'Simply amazing' English Open Day
Year 7 impressed prospective Year 6 students and their parents on this year's Open Day with friendly conversations, fun tasks, games and insights into life at Putney.
Activities included decorating the book tree with the titles of favourite texts, challenging each other at the A Midsummer Night's Dream game, writing verse and illustrating the giant poems found in the classroom and on the Galbraith lawn.
Among the completed work on display were Year 7 poetry anthologies, Year 8 books in boxes and wall displays featuring the Year 9 poems inspired by Carol Ann Duffy and the Year 7 Bankside trip that took place last Activities Week.
The students and their work received plenty of praise from the parents. 'Simply amazing,' one mother was overheard saying. The English Department agrees with this as a description of Putney students.
