Highly Commended for ASIP photographer

Tara M (left) in Year 12 was awarded Highly Commended in the Best Photograph category at this year's Shine School Media Awards.

She is joined in the photograph above by Emma A, the editor-in-chief of this year's team behind the student-run school magazine, A Study in Purple, which published the photograph in Issue 15, 'Culture'. Tara's entry can be seen at the foot of this article.

At a grand prize-giving ceremony, held in June at the Royal Over-Seas League, the judges said: "It was nice to see a documentary-style photograph where a moment has been captured. It shows Tara can see a potential image happening and execute a natural shot in that moment."

The judges also noted good technical skills, with a good use of shallow depth of field.
