During an after-school Harkness Discussion earlier this term, Year 11 students explored the author's experimentation with narrative form in the exam text Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier.
For almost an hour, students investigated the purpose and effects of the non-linear structure, the unconventional use of epilogue and prologue and the problem of genre definition. Students said afterwards that the event was particularly useful for understanding the additional effect of event-sequencing.
