New collection captures creativity

A highlight of the autumn term is the publication of a new Creative Writing Anthology, pulling together the best of the best from the preceding year's KS3 Creative Writing Competition.

A total of 15 different writing tasks are set by five departments (Classics, Design Technology, Geography, History and Religious Studies) for students in Years 7, 8 and 9. These range from diary entries by a Roman slave through reflections on the problem of evil to stories inspired by the myth of Dido and Aeneas.

Each student uses the Easter break to select their best work from the five subjects, and their English teacher picks the best entry from each class. The English Department then chooses the overall winners for each year group. A published anthology captures the winning entries from each of the five Year 7 classes, six Year 8 classes, and five Year 9 classes, with the overall winners for each year group prominently featured.

Special congratulations to Eve H in last year's 7FG, Amelie H in last year's 8IG and Alisha A in last year's 9A for scooping the top prizes!

The competition for this academic year is now underway, and we look forward to reading another collection of imaginative, moving and exciting submissions in the next summer term.
