Patsy Ferran brings Streetcar to Putney

Our Sixth Form English students were excited to welcome actress Patsy Ferran to Putney this term for a workshop on their set text, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.

The students were privileged to enjoy a question-and-answer session with Olivier-nominated actress Patsy Ferran, currently starring in the West End production of A Streetcar Named Desire as Blanche DuBois. Ferran has had a hugely successful career, having performed in Summer and Smoke at the Almeida Theatre, Treasure Island at the National Theatre and The Merchant of Venice at the RSC.

Patsy enthusiastically shared anecdotes of the production of A Streetcar Named Desire directed by Rebecca Frecknall, which is due to transfer from the Almeida Theatre to the Phoenix Theatre later this month. Patsy gave incredibly fascinating and nuanced responses, and the students left with many new ideas to consider in their study of the play!
